Turning Shared Values into Everyday Actions – Connection, Communication and Wellbeing

Following our 2024 iMatter results, the Stakeholder Engagement and Insights team came together to explore what healthy working practices meant to us. We began with a group session where everyone shared examples of good practices and areas for improvement, aligned with NHS 24’s core values. From this, volunteers formed a short-life working group to take the feedback forward. Ideas were themed, developed into problem statements and “How Might We?” questions, and explored through a creative exercise called Crazy 8s.

This process helped us tackle two key challenges: Building Team Togetherness and Improving Communication and Feedback.

To build togetherness, we introduced the Birthday Cluster, where each team member celebrates a colleague’s birthday, creating moments of joy and connection. We also launched Team Passports to help us understand each other’s communication styles, and initiated monthly In-Office Days, a social WhatsApp group and activities like a book club and step challenge.

To improve communication and feedback, we created Spotlight Sessions – a space for team members to share work and learn from each other. We’re also shaping a two-way feedback process to foster constructive exchange between colleagues and managers.

This work has helped us feel more connected and valued. We’re excited to keep building on it.
