Small but Mighty

The Learning & Organisational Development (L&OD) team may be small, but we deliver big results. Based at Kirklands Hospital in Bothwell, our 16-strong team consistently delivers on our objectives and aspirations year after year.

L&OD, which includes our Equality & Diversity team, provide dedicated support across the whole of NHS Lanarkshire on OD Programmes such as iMatter & Turas Appraisal, offering traditional & bespoke development & targeted leadership programmes, alongside supporting our Equality Networks, Interpreting and Equality & Diversity training across the whole of NHS Lanarkshire.

Our iMatter Journey

iMatter is core to our team. Each year, we actively follow through on our action plans. A reminder at our monthly team meeting ahead of the survey encouraged staff to complete the questionnaire, leading to 100% completion rate and an engagement index of 81% which is similar to previous years.

Our results were discussed at one of our monthly meetings, where we talked through our results and how we felt about the report overall. Team members were invited to suggest actions for our team & these suggestions were discussed, agreed & recorded.

This year, we recognised the need to celebrate our successes more often. We also realised that we don’t always know the details of what colleagues are working on, so we agreed to:

  • Build in time at team meetings for everyone to share updates
  • Highlight and celebrate achievements during these sessions

Progress against our action plan will be reviewed at our six and twelve month meetings.

L&OD continue to be a great team to work in, supportive of each other.  We meet regularly to progress work & we always make time for each other, whether that be birthdays, events & regular social events.
